Electric Golf Cart Battery Wiring Diagram

By | August 5, 2018

If you’ve ever wanted to get your hands on a golf cart, you’re in luck – electric golf carts are becoming increasingly popular for personal and recreational use. But with their newfound popularity comes great responsibility – namely, the daunting task of wiring and connecting the electric golf cart battery. Fortunately, if you’re willing to put in a little effort, wiring an electric golf cart battery need not be a headache.

When wiring an electric golf cart battery, first and foremost, be sure to take safety precautions. This includes wearing safety goggles, having insulated tools and clothing, and baring any jewelry that could come into contact with live electrical components. Additionally, make sure you have a diagram of the electrical system on hand to reference as you work.

To begin, you’ll need to connect the positive and negative terminals of the battery to the motor. The positive terminal will usually be red, while the negative terminal will usually be black. Connecting these cables to the motor is a simple process, but if you’re not sure exactly how to do it, consult your electric golf cart battery wiring diagram.

Once the motor is connected, you’ll need to move onto the main control switch. This allows for easy control over the golf cart’s speed, direction and other functions. Again, consult the wiring diagram when connecting the main control switch to the motor. When attaching the switch, pay particular attention to polarity, making sure that the positive and negative wires are placed in the correct locations.

Finally, you can attach the rest of the accessories – such as headlights, taillights and brake lights – using the wiring diagram. When everything is tied together, be sure to test the system by turning everything on and off several times to make sure that the connections are secure and there is no chance of a short-circuit.

Wiring an electric golf cart battery may seem daunting, but with the right knowledge and a reliable wiring diagram, you can have your golf cart up and running in no time!
